Hybrid working, the new normal

Businesses will face the task of modifying, work design and adjusting to new work norms as many enterprises face the impact of COVID and move to a hybrid work model. The impact on the organization could be enormous when a group of employees make the move to a new work style concurrently. HR must make sure that actions to support inclusion occupy a major place in these plans in addition to assessing and planning for the impact on policies and processes, financial targets, cash flow, customer service, business marketing and sales, and other factors.
According to Haas, 2022 below 5Cs are categorized as
the main problems for the success-fulness of hybrid working.
Communication - It’s obvious that relying on technology may create problems for communication. and there are other practical difficulties in hybrid work module.
Coordination -Coordination should exist for every job role, but working in hybrid module presents more challenges for coordination than working face to face.
Connection -
Social connection, professional and mentoring relationships are important
for success in the workplace.
Creativity – Collective creativity and collective innovation may challenge in hybrid working system.
Culture – Organizational culture, values and expectations will not meet at hybrid working system.
But there are more benefits of hybrid working for both employer and employee. Such as good work–life balance, fewer distractions, more time for family and friends, saving time and costs, IT upskilling and high motivation, savings on office space, higher levels of job satisfaction, and reduced absence (CIPD, 2022).
HR professionals of the
organization need to implement the necessary policies to overcome challenges as
this became a new challenge to the HR. carry out many personnel trainings using ICT
tools, organizing regular virtual onboarding, develop employees using
e-learning platforms, can overcome challenges in hybrid working (Tabor, 2022)
